3. Grand Santiago Tower.


 The skyscraper that dominates Santiago’s skyline is also the tallest building in Latin America and a lovely sight that matches the majestic mountain views of the city. Speaking of views, the ones you get from the top of this tower are superb!

4. Ex Congreso Nacional


 The particular brand of neoclassical architecture used to built this landmark of Santiago is reminiscent of the White House. It used to be a legislative palace and currently functions as a library and government offices.

 5. Catedral Metropolitana.


Despite being the fifth version of Santiago’s Cathedral, the current building is actually quite old -dating back to the mid eighteenth century. The elegance of its façade is matched by its spectacular interior.

6. Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes.

 
 A historic monument that keeps over 3000 art pieces and a library specialized in visual arts. The art-nouveau details on its façade are delightful and make it a picture-perfect landmark of Santiago de Chile.

7. Santuario de la Inmaculada Concepción.


  Right at the top of Cerro San Cristóbal, this 70 feet statue of Virgin Mary looking over Santiago stands in an ancient, sacred spot, where the natives used to worship before the arrival of the Spaniards.

8.  Castillo Hidalgo


 Originally built to protect the city, this beautiful castle was abandoned for many years before it was restored and repurposed as a place for social events. Though time took its toll on the building, it still looks impressive.

 9. Basílica de La Merced


 You can’t miss this colorful, sixteenth century church as you stroll through downtown Santiago de Chile. Albeit damaged and restored several times, it’s one of the oldest Catholic buildings in the continent.

 10. Palacio de la Moneda


 This eighteenth century masterpiece houses the office of the President of Chile and several other government departments. It’s a sober, neoclassical building with a magnificent plaza that serves as a luxury “front yard”.

 11. Palacio de los Tribunales de Justicia.


 Built in the early twentieth century, it is home to the Supreme Court of Chile and one of Santiago’s most recognizable landmarks.

12.  Estación Central


 Ah, there’s something about old train stations, isn`t it? Still working, this simple but iconic structure has been the heart of Chile’s train system forever.
